Hungary Honours Indian Professor with
Honorary Doctorate of Economics


IIF, Delhi: 14th Dec., 2007; Prof. J.D. Agarwal, Chairman & Professor of Finance, Indian Institute of Finance has been honoured with the highest Honour of Hungary Academy of Sciences and the Szent Istvan University (SZIU) of the “Doctor Honoris Causa” Honorary Doctorate of Economics by the prestigious SZIU (Faculty of Economics and Social Science) in Godollo, HUNGARY on 3rd December, 2007 on the occasion of their Golden Jubilee Celebrations for his dintguished contributions to the field of financial development economics and establishing "Indian Institute of Finance" as a center of excellence and research without government aid.

The Szent Istavan University (SZIU) Hungary, a state run Institution of higher education of the Republic of Hungary – within the framework of ACT LXXX of 1993 on Higher Education has the Center of Federation of five outstanding institutions of high renown which used to operate independently for over 2000 years with schools established in 1787, 1880, 1917, 1920 and others. This integrated University has 6 faculties and gives high priority to agricultural and rural development.

In Hungary, Prof. Agarwal had been invited to also deliver the Opening Plenary Keynote Address at the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of the Szent Istvan University Faculty of Economics and Social Science on “Innovations & Developments in Financing and Investment in Agriculture and Rural Development (with special reference to India and Hungary)” on 3rd December, 2007.
