4, IIF, New Delhi : Indian Institute of Finance Vice Chairman & Professor of Finance, Prof. Aman Agarwal has been honoured by being Enthroned to a Chair position of the St. Emillion Group of Bordeaux, France on 28th June 2007. This is a special Honour and Privilege given to World prominent figures in Business, Education, Arts and Sciences by the Heritage City of Bordeaux.
The St. Emillion Brotherhood is a group of Chateau Wine makers prevalent in France to promote the interest of wine manufacturers and the Bordeaux Wine since the 8th Century. The Romans planted vineyards in what was to become Saint Emillion as early as the 2nd century AD. In the 4th century , the Latin poet Ausonius landed the fruit of the bountiful vine and the St. Emillion Brotherhood was hence formulated.
In France, Prof. Agarwal had been invited to deliver the Keynote Address at the French Finance Association (AFFI) Annual Meeting hosted by the University Montesquieu-Bordeaux IV and had talks at OECD and HEC Business School Alumni's in Paris in June 2007. Others who presided the plenary session for commenting upon Prof. Agarwal's address on 29th June 2007 and those who were also receipt of the honour at the ceremony on 28th June, 2007 were Sir Michel Prada, Chairman, French Financial Markets Authority; Prof. Gordon Alexander, Professor, Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota, USA; Prof. Georges Gallais-Hamonno, President, AFFI (French Finance Association); Sir Daniel Lebegue, Chairman, French Institute of Directors.
Prof. Agarwal has been honoured earlier in March 2007 through the nomination for the "Honorary Doctorate of Finance" by the University of Cergy-Pontoise (France), when he had been invited to deliver the Guest of Honour address at the Opening plenary session and the Valedictory session, which were presided by Nobel Laureate Prof. James Heckman, Nobel laureate Prof. Harry Markowich, Prof. Gérard Hyrigoyen (President, University of Bordeaux) and presidents of other Tunisian Universities.
