31, IIF, New Delhi : Republic of Uzbekistan, Ministry
of High and Medium Special Education, conferred the Honorary
Degree of “Doctor of Economics”
to Dr. J.D. Agarwal, Professor of Finance and currently
Chairman, Indian Institute of Finance through the Scientific
Committee of Tashkent Finance Institute, in a special
ceremony organized for the purpose at Tashkent, Uzbekistan
on 27th December 2004. Members of the Scientific Committee
of the Institute and other dignitaries attended the ceremony
and televised widely on First TV – the national
channel of Uzbekistan. Professor Agarwal was on his visit
to Uzbekistan on being invited as an International Observer
in their Parliamentary elections held on 26 Dec 2004.
Professor
Agarwal, Ph.D. from Delhi School of Economics, is a well
known Financial Economist known internationally for his
academic and research contributions in the field of Financial
economics. He is an original thinker. He is also editor
of Finance India rated third world wide by American Statistical
Association. He has developed several models, quoted widely,
written over 100 research papers over 12 books, and edited
over 70 issues of Finance India besides addressing conferences
internationally. He has an illustrious career spanning
over 35 years as teacher & researcher in some of the
most leading Institutes and Universities including Delhi
University and IIT Delhi. He is on the editorial board
of several international journals.
Conferring
the rare honour to an Indian Professor and academician,
Professor Murat Sh. Sharifkhodjaev, Rector of the Tashkent
Institute of Finance, Republic of Uzbekistan, Academician
of Science RUz, Member of Parliament of Uzbekistan and
Honored Scientist of RUz, highlighted the achievements
and academic contributions made by Professor in the field
of Financial Economics.
