"Literature in Finance ­ I : Corporate Finance"

The book "Literature in finance Volume I : Corporate Finance" is authored by Prof. J.D. Agarwal, Chairman, Indian Institute of Finance and Chief Editor, Finance India and Prof. Aman Agarwal, Offg. Director, Indian Institute of Finance & Director, IIF Business School.

The book launch function was graced and released in a grand function in the presence of Mr. Manuel Pangilinan, President and CEO, PLDT, Philippines; Mr. Edmund Muth, Senior Director, Financial Services Group, Microsoft Corporation, USA; Mr. Steve Laue, Vice President, MasterCard Advisors, MasterCard International, USA; Mr. Allan, President, Bank Marketing Association of the Philippines, Philippines; Mr. Ashok Nath, CEO, Options Information Company; Philippines; Prof. J. D Agarwal, Chairman & Professor, Indian Institute of Finance, India; Prof. Aman Agarwal, Offg. Director, Indian Institute of Finance, India and CEOs of Asia-Pacific Banks todays at ongoing Asia Pacific Bankers Congress 2004 in Manila, Philippines.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. J.D. Agarwal said, finance has emerged as one of the most vital component for growth and development. According to him, proper financial decisions and policies help an organisation to grow at a faster rate and become financially strong, independent and may even save from disaster. Corporate finance is the cornerstone of an organization feels Prof. Agarwal. Corporate finance decisions may make or ruin an organisation. It has in-itself emerged as a distinct stream in Finance. Many schools of management have designed courses especially in Corporate Finance all over the world said Prof. Aman Agarwal.

According to Prof. Agarwal, there are a large number of text books as well as research studies, available in Finance but to the best of his knowledge there is no compendium presenting at one place the literature available on Finance, recognizing the fact that there exist wide time gap in the research being done, published in journals and included in books said Prof. Agarwal.

Prof. Agarwal also announced compendium of series in “Literature in Finance" compiling literature, which has been produced internationally in form of extensive bibliographies on different aspects of Finance. The book released today forms first of the series focusing on Corporate Finance. Describing the contents of his book, Agarwal said the topics covered in this compendium on “Corporate Finance” include important topics such as Financial Management; Capital Budgeting Decision; Investment; Cost of Capital; Capital Structure; Dividend Policy; Working Capital Management; Asset Pricing; SAPM; Future, Options and Derivatives; Financial Planning; Debt Management and Financial Reengineering.

The book would facilitate professors, researchers post graduate students for ready referencing to further their academic and research activities to get access to works being done internationally at one place on the above topics. It would also provide a medium for existing work as an appropriate outlet for dissemination says proudly Prof. Aman Agarwal.
