Union Budet 2002-2003

Prof. J.D.Agarwal, Chairman & Director, Indian Institute of Finance feels that it is a good budget with a focus on agriculture and human face carrying further the second phase of economic reforms.

Prof. Agarwal feels that the Budget would revive demand, promote investment and accelerate growth in the economy. According to him, several proposals are "pathbreaking in nature" such as deregulation of APM of petrol prices resulting in reduction of petrol & diesel and full convertibility of deposit schemes for NRIs etc.

However, Prof. Agarwal feels that increase in LPG & Kerosene prices would hit the middle class adversly.
