Observation on RAILWAY BUDGET 2002-2003

Prof. J.D.Agarwal, Chairman & Director, Indian Institute of Finance has welcomed the Railway Budget presented today. He has particularly appreciated the saving of Rs. 1090 crores in working expenditure due to reduction in expenditure and rationalisation of passenger fares.

No change in passenger fares as well as that of freight would give great relief to people and industry.

He also appreciated the Railway Minister's proposal to discharge full dividend dues budgeted at Rs.2679 crores in coming year.
