There
has been computer revolution except in productivity Sector
according to Professor M.H.T. Tenraa, Professor of Economics,
Tilburg University, Netherland. He emphasised there is
a greater need of computer use in productivity areas as
well said Prof. Tenraa speaking in a Seminar on "Engines
of Growth in the US Economy " held at Indian Institute
of Finance today.
Prof.
Tenraa started his lecture by emphasising the Solow's
Macro Conceept of Productivity. He converted this concept
to the sectoral productivity. There after he spoke on
R & D and its inter-sectoral multiple effect of R
& D into focus. The later concept has been neglected
in the literature so far. During the Course of his lecture
he he presented the estimate of productivity of growth
of 68 sectors of US Economy form 1957 to 1987. His research
shows that the computer & electronic equipments have
gained the most by the household sector has grown the
least . His first finding is in contradiction to solow's
concepts that computer sector does not show any productivity
growth.
While
thanking Prof. Tebraa, Prof.
J.D.Agarwal Chairman & Director, Indian Institute
of Finance said that the two world wars end efficient
use of factor endowments such as labour, Captial R &
D effort in US Economy beside other factors acted as engines
of growth in US Economy.
He
reiterated that in the last 50 years US Economy has attracted
effecient human resources from all over the world and
used them nost effeciently.
