Prof.
J.D. Agarwal, Chairman & Director, Indian Institute
of Finance welcomed the decision of the Reserve Bank of
India & Indian Bank Association for keeping all the
branches of banks open on Saturday and Sunday, 11th and
12th April 1998.
The
decision has an inbuilt concern for the custormer, the
festivals, the trading community & the nation, In
his opinion such an important service industry like banking
should not be allowed to be colsed for as long as 5/6
days continously. Ofcouse ther should be a concern about
the welfare on the employees of the banking but their
main activity is to provide an efficient & effective
service to the community at large.
