Presumptive tax urged on farmers having more than 20 hectares

New Delhi: The Indian Institute of Finance director, Mr J D Agarwal, on Sunday advocated the inclusion of presumption tax on agriculturalists owning more than 20 hectares. Presenting his papers at seminar on 'Resources mobilistion, including tax reforms,' he said there was no justification for the imposition of an agricultural income tax in generals as about 70 per cent of agriculturalists owned less than five hectares, and 15 per cent owned between 5 and 20 hectares.
